So here we are ... in the big city. Diane, Tom and Cynthia. We were slated to be part of the meeting at Children's Hospital Boston at 1 p.m. The agenda was as follows: 1 - 1:30, lunch; 1:30 - 2:00, case presentation by staff; 2:00 - 2:30, MSNE presentation; 2:30 - 3:30, presentation on transition planning.
Not to brag or anything but we were GREAT! There were about 40 - 50 members from the Developmental Medicine Center team whose purpose is to "to enhance the lives of children and families through early diagnosis and evidence-based protocols geared to specific disorders in order to maximize the quality of children's lives."
Our role was to present the work of the Monarch School and the work we do with our kiddos. We spoke about Elizabeth, Ryan and Lucas; we also spoke about our great staff and how they work together to focus on the whole child.
When we were done, we were asked if we might clone our program and move to Massachusetts. At this point, we remain in Rochester but it's good to know that the work we do is unique and important.
This was a great experience - we will be looking for other opportunities to present our work to medical centers, specifically the places that focus on the needs of children with disabilities.
